Daffodil International University observes ‘Amar Ekushey’ and International Mother Language Day 2023 with gala events

With great enthusiasm and due respect, Daffodil International University (DIU) observed 21st February the ‘Shahid Dibash’ and ‘International Mother Language Day’ today paying tribute to the martyrs of the language movement. Prof. Dr. M Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University stand in solemn silence after placing wreaths at the Shaheed Miniar of the university as the clock struck 12.01 to show respect to the memories of language heroes. Prof. Dr. Shaikh Md. Allayear, Proctor, Professor Dr. Syed Mizanur Rahman, Director of Student Affairs, Kazi Md. Diljeb Kabir, Deputy Director along with a large number of officials and students accompanied with him.

Early in the morning the students, teachers and officers of the university brought out a morning rally from Daffodil Smart City, Birulia, Savar where Professor Dr. M Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr.S M. Mahabub Ul Haque Majumder, Pro Vice Chancellor and other high officials were present. Another team lead by Professor Dr.  Masum Iqbal, Dean, Faculty of Business & Entrepreneurship (FBE) and Md. Anowar Habib Kazal, Senior Assistant Director (Public Relations) gathered to Central Shahid Minar at Dhaka University and placed floral wreaths at the Shahid Minar premises to pay homage to the martyrs of Language Movement who sacrificed their lives for the recognition of Bangla as one of the state language of erstwhile Pakistan in 1952.   

Beside this, to mark the day all the clubs of Daffodil International University jointly chalked out elaborate programs including Discussion, Rally, Recitation, Art Competition, Cultural Program and dance drama based on language movement.

Speakers advised the students to be more careful about proper spelling, pronunciation and application of Bengali language in all aspects of life and uphold the dignity of mother tongue building a strong base of Bengali language in the core of heart. They also stressed, there is none but, Banglalees have created an example in the world sacrificing their lives for their beloved mother language and based on their sacrifice international community has declared 21st February as International Mother Language Day which is a great pride for us as a nation and now 21st February is being observed all over the members countries of United Nations. So we have to play the vital role and show great respect to Mother Language which would be the role model for other nations.
